FOLLOWING A DREAM
Bosch Home Appliances and Istanbul Modern join forces for the “Following a Dream” project guided by the manifesto, “Which path do you take when you get lost following your imagination? Be patient; wait to hear the sounds of those inspiring footsteps. Just like the incredible female artists who took those steps before.”
Bosch Home Appliances and Istanbul Modern’s “Following a Dream” project aims to reveal the potential of female students and lend them a hand in making their dreams come true using the power of art. The project is a great opportunity for female students who want to improve their talents and artistic perspectives. Here, female students meet and take lessons from artists who will inspire and broaden their horizons. They will find new ways of expressing themselves and, ideally, find the determination to pursue their dreams. During the program, forty high school students chosen from different districts of Istanbul will receive training from a diverse team of academics, artists, curators, art historians, and museum experts brought together by Istanbul Modern, Turkey’s first contemporary art museum. Cooperating with schools, local governments, and non-governmental organizations, the project includes seminars, workshops, contemporary art history courses, artwork studies, and specialist courses. Here, female students meet acclaimed artists and take basic courses, including art history, performing arts, painting, sculpture, and music. Ultimately, the students will explore their artistic narrative in a wide range of disciplines. They will produce art in various creative workshops and experience the pleasure of merging imagination and different practices.
More than a formal art workshop
Following a Dream is a platform that wants, above all, to give female students self-confidence and courage. Here, they will realize that it is possible to follow their dreams and tell their own stories using the unifying power of art. Bosch Home Appliances wants to go beyond the forty students joining the program and inspire a greater number of young people trying to determine their path and offer a creative model for everyone. Working on new technologies to make household chores less tiring and more shareable among couples, Bosch Home Appliances believes that gender equality starts at home first.
