What are you working on these days?
I am working for my exhibition that is going to take place in PG Art Gallery next year in December. Choosing from the sketch works, deciding on the exhibition concept and waiting for the ideas to cool down take really long time. First I need to examine my works freely that I can send them to the gallery. But nowadays I am shirking my duty because I have this great neighbor where I can have my lunch. I sometimes worry about Sanayi 313 because even though I tidy myself up before going there, I might strew dust and polystyrene around.

What kind of materials do you work with? What are your plans for your exhibition in December?
I’ve worked with materials such as bronze, aliminium, stone, brass, metal, plexy, felt and polyester. Because I think in an abstract way, I can say that I am the queen of sculptures with organic forms. I have always worked with one or two notions for my personal exhibitions. My experiences will be the defining factor of this exhibition’s notion as well. I don’t know how things will turn out until that day though.

If you were to create an object/sculpture for Sanayi 313, what would it be?
Sanayi 313 is a place to breathe. It is really nice that a place very close by with such a warm welcome with delicious and healthy food exist. I think that what Enis is doing is not easy, bringing so many different products together. An exhibition with artists’ works around Sanayi area may be a good idea. A sculpture in the entrance, a painting hanged inside ext. Information of the artwork would be written underneath. This kind of collaboration would be great. Because we are sharing the area and our souls are not away from each other…

What is different about the 6th street?
First of all it is close to Sanayi 313 (laughing). And there are only two workmen left from the old Sanayi. One of them is a machinist and the other one repairs car hoods. The others are artists, designers or people from the film world.

What do you think about the future of this area?
There are many artists here. I think that it is a hidden magical area that should be utilized and protected in a very good way by the investors who will be responsible for the urban renewal.
